Meet the Maker – Katie from Botton Village

Katie, a person we support in our Botton Village community, enjoys spending time in our weavery workshops making all sorts of creations out of natural materials, like wood and bark.

All of our workshops and day activities are designed to help the people we support learn new skills, make friends, and be a part of our community.

Katie’s recent weavery design is a basket-style house for blue tits and their eggs, made from willow that the community planted in Botton Village. The design was well thought out, as she added a small door for the bird to go in to lay their eggs, while also being protective and sturdy for the bird to create a nest inside.

Katie says she likes weaving as it brings her comfort and is very therapeutic. She thoroughly enjoys it as she was taught to weave in Delrow, another one of our communities at Camphill Village Trust.

All the purchases made from our social enterprise shop go towards us supporting adults with learning and other disabilities in our communities around England.
