At Camphill Village Trust, every Christmas card tells a unique story—one of creativity, joy, and community spirit. This year, two remarkable women that we support, Debbie and Alex, have poured their hearts into designing cards that bring festive cheer while supporting our cause.
Debbie and Alex live together at Aspen House in our Larchfield Community. But they are much more than housemates; they are best friends who share laughter, adventures, and a passion for art. As part of the Nature-based Art and Craft day activities, the ladies embrace their creativity on Mondays and Wednesdays, exploring new techniques and finding inspiration in the world around them.
When Debbie and Alex were invited to design Christmas cards to raise funds for Camphill Village Trust, they jumped at the opportunity. Their inspiration came from the animals they see each day on the farm outside their home, making their designs a true reflection of life at Larchfield.
The creative process began with pencil and paper as the ladies sketched their ideas. With guidance from Programme Assistant ‘Sewing Sarah,’ they brought their drawings to life using fabric. Carefully tacking pieces together, Debbie and Alex worked collaboratively before Sarah added the final touches with her sewing machine. The finished artworks were then photographed and sent to the print team at Botton Village, ready to become the beautiful cards now available in our shop.
Debbie couldn’t contain her excitement when she saw their cards for the first time:
“When I saw our designs printed on a card for the first time I was over the moon. I’m bursting with pride! It is such an honour that our cards are for sale.”
Alex shared her hopes for the festive season:
“I hope our cards bring joy to everyone who sends and receives them this Christmas.”
Debbie and Alex’s designs are more than just cards—they represent the creativity and talent of the adults we support at Camphill Village Trust.
