The beautiful, felt artwork on these cards was created at Larchfield Community Creative Studios by adults with learning and other disabilities.
Felting is the ancient tradition of locking together wool fibres using moisture and/or friction. The two felting techniques are called ‘wet felting’ and ‘needle felting’. In wet felting, hot soapy water and hand rubbing are used to fuse the wool together. In needle felting, triangular-shaped needles with notches push and intermingle the wool fibres together.
Felting is a therapeutic activity that allows the people we support to express their creativity whilst using natural, sustainable materials.
