Create Your Own Hand-Embroidered Landscape 

Spend a relaxing and inspiring day stitching your own beautiful textile landscape. This workshop will guide you step-by-step through creating a richly layered fabric background before building detail and texture through hand embroidery.

Whether you’re completely new to embroidery or already have experience, this workshop is designed to support and inspire all levels.

What You’ll Learn

• During the day, you will:
• Select and combine fabrics to create a layered landscape background
• Explore how colour, texture and fabric choice influence atmosphere
• Learn how to piece and secure your base composition
• Build detail using a variety of hand embroidery stitches
• Experiment with different threads and textiles to create depth and surface texture

You’ll discover how subtle changes in fabric and stitch can evoke sky, fields, trees, water, hills or coastline — transforming simple materials into a striking stitched scene.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have started (and potentially completed) your own unique embroidered landscape to take home.

If you have a particular landscape you’d love to recreate — perhaps a favourite holiday view, local countryside, or meaningful place, please bring an image with you.
This can be printed or on your phone or tablet.

Meet Your Tutor

• Louise, your workshop leader, is an experienced textile artist and tutor who has been delivering embroidery and textile workshops for eight years. Louise specialises primarily in hand embroidery, while also teaching:
• Free motion embroidery (drawing with a sewing machine)
• Designing for textiles
• Visible mending
• Boro embroidery

She has delivered both standalone workshops and structured course series for a range of organisations. Her sessions are known for being supportive, creative and accessible, encouraging participants to explore their own style while learning strong foundational techniques.

📌 Cancellation Policy & Dietary Requirements

We understand that plans can change. To keep things fair and manageable for everyone, our policies are as follows:

Cancellation & Refunds

• Cancellations made more than 14 days before the workshop date are eligible for a full refund.

• For cancellations within 14 days of the workshop start, refunds are generally not available, as spaces are limited and preparation begins well in advance.

• If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your booking to another person, provided you notify us at least 7 days before the workshop.

• In the unlikely event that we must cancel the workshop (for example due to low enrolment, tutor illness, or unforeseen circumstances), you will be offered either:
  • a full refund, or
  • the option to transfer your booking to another date.

• No refunds are given for no-shows or missed attendance.

Dietary Requirements & Lunch

• A light lunch and refreshments are included in your workshop ticket.

• If you have any dietary requirements, allergies, or food intolerances, please let us know at the time of booking so we can cater for you appropriately. Please email suzanne.taylor@cvt.org.uk

• We will make every effort to accommodate your needs, but please provide details in advance — last-minute changes may not be possible.
